Important Updates for the 2024-2025 School Year

Nurses Middle College Charter High School has qualified for the Community Eligibility Program providing free breakfast and lunch to all students.

Throughout the 2024-25 school year, the district will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.

All students are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge each day of the 2024-25 school year. No application is required to participate in this program.

However, families should complete the Household Income Form by October 1st. The data gathered from this form allows the district to receive additional state and federal funding, and can qualify students for benefits such as reduced fees for SAT and ACT tests, and reduced college applications fees. The information from the HHIE form is confidential. If you have any questions, please reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. USDA Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder

USDA works closely with states to ensure that children who receive on free or reduced-price school meals can get the nutrition they need when schools are closed – whether during summer break or unexpected closures during the school year. Through USDA's summer meal programs, approved sites in communities across the country can serve meals to kids up to age 18 at no cost. Families can use this tool to find directions to nearby meal sites, as well as their hours of operation and contact information.

The Summer Meals Site Finder has officially closed for the season now that schools are back in session. Check back in early May 2024 when the Site Finder will go live again for the 2024 summer period.

Families seeking food assistance for their children can also contact The USDA National Hunger Hotline, operated by Hunger Free America. The hotline can be reached Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) (for English) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273) (for Spanish).

2024 Summer EBT Information from OTDA

Summer EBT food benefits are now being issued to eligible children and will continue through October 2024.* This webpage will be updated as new information is available.

Benefits are currently being issued to eligible school-age children who attend public school (including charter schools) and received a letter in the mail that benefits will be issued to an existing Pandemic-EBT card that was used to access their P-EBT benefits. If you no longer have this P-EBT card, follow these instructions to request a replacement card.

Summer EBT benefits are currently being issued and new EBT cards are being mailed to eligible school-age children who attend public school and received a letter in the mail saying that a new Summer EBT card will be mailed to them. Please allow up to 6 weeks for Summer EBT benefit cards to arrive in the mail.

If you already requested a replacement card or filled out the address change form on our website, you do not have to do anything else, and there is no need to call the Customer Service Helpline. Replacement card requests are being processed in the order they were received and will begin to be mailed out in mid-August.

For information on how to activate/PIN a Summer EBT card visit the PIN activation webpage.

Eligible students who attend non-public school (private, religious, or independent schools) are expected to begin receiving eligibility letters and benefits in late August into September. Please do not complete a replacement card request, as your benefits have not been issued yet. Eligibility letters will be sent to the most recent address on file provided by your school. Eligibility letters will explain if your child is being issued their Summer EBT benefit on your pre-existing P-EBT card or if a new card is being mailed.

Children determined eligible through an application will receive eligibility letters and benefits beginning in September. All children determined eligible through an application will be mailed a new Summer EBT food benefit card. Learn more about how to apply and complete the application.

Children who automatically became newly eligible for Summer EBT because they were enrolled in Medicaid or SNAP, or certified for free meals by their school at the end of the 2023-24 school year or over the summer, are expected to receive benefits in October 2024.

Use your Summer EBT or P-EBT food benefit card to check your child's Summer EBT benefit issuance date, benefit balance, and transactions by creating an online account at ebtEDGE.com or download the ebtEDGE app on your mobile device (available on the: Google Play Store and Apple App Store).

Be sure to use your benefits soon after you receive them, because Summer EBT benefits expire 122 days after they are issued. Please be sure to hold on to your Summer EBT food benefit card in the event that additional Summer EBT food benefits are issued to your child in the future.

*The above dates are estimates and subject to change.
